Who is among us who could not remember “Ondoy”? Ondoy was like a mighty man who cast out all it has on a one Big One Night Stand. Yes, a One Night of heavy spilling and blowing its mighty strength upon the navel of Philippines’ Luzon Island that resulted into massive large flooding and casualties. A one night mighty typhoon that marks on Philippine typhoon history wherein it shatters a lot of Filipinos lives and livelihood and not sparing even Philippine celebrities in just One Night.
Wayback to September 25 2009, I was at home when i first encountered the unstoppable continuous raining all day long. I thought it was just an ordinary day where typhoon will easily just past away, but i was wrong. That day was remarkable especially for all the Filipinos who were also victims of typhoon Ondoy.
It was my first time to experienced that kind of quandary in my life. How a big disastrous event that i could not imagine until i went through. I could say that I suffered a very hard situation between my studies and my daily living. A situation where in I need to detached to my loved ones and struggle hard to continue my learning.
Wayback again on that day, i wake up very early in the morning, I think that was 7:00 a.m. even though it was a good time to sleep for a rainy day, my Mother woke me up because she noticed in the outside (the road) that the water was vastly increasing in a matter of minutes. We are living in a subdivision where we are near beside the Laguna De Bay, a part where we called “Daraga”. Around 10:00 was a cumbersome situation because of the heavy pour of rain and the unexpected high level of water outside.
The situation becomes worsen in every passing hours. And yes, I am expecting it. Watching News from t.v. and saw other parts of the country (metro manila) where also in heavy flooding situation, I prepare myself for what may occur. I saw many people who are in panic especially those who lived in houses with no second floors. They where in a rush and started to evacuate immediately. I am also busy putting up big heavy things (furnitures and appliances) in the second floor because we are already in flooded. Abot Bewang na ang baha. How insane.
My Father was in work when Ondoy strikes, and it was already in twilight when he came home. He went to his work with his motorbike and went back na lumulusong sa baha. Bitbit sa ulo ang mga biniling pagkain at emergeny tools. We helped our neighbors who are in need. My Father was a very kind and helpful person that he cares for his neighbors and help them to evacuate in our house. There are 4 Families who temporarily stayed in our house for a night. How it saddens for them rather than to compare to us.
That night it was very hard to connect on the internet. Many houses are half submerged in the water. Our house turns into an Appliance Center because of the appliances of our neighbors. Even though we have a light, it was a very dark subdivision because of the abandoned dark houses . A night of cold, rainy and dark clouds, A night where people are anxious and an warmed. A night of raining of tears and saddens of soul.
to be continue…
